Hi, I`m Martina and I`m from Italy. I`m 26 years old and I was born in a small town, called San benedetto del Tronto, on the adriatic coast, two hours from Rome by car. It`s a beautiful place with an amazing beach and a lot of palms. Usually we call our city "Sun Beatch", playing with the connection between word "San" (in italian) and "Sun" (in english).
My father and my mother live in the north of Italy, in a nice city called Udine, and my brother, Jacopo, lives in Milan because is attending university there. He study to became a mathematical engineer and he`s 21.
I have lived in Bologna for 7 years, where i graduated in 2010 in law and I attended a PHD in law too.
I love Bologna is the place where probably I`d like to live for my whole life.
I have a lots of friends in Bologna and we like to go out for the dinner o to go to the park for a walk.
I attended an humanistic high school, I studyed latin and ancient greek and the whole classic literature especially from Italy but also from europe and America.
This is the rerason why I love reading: my favourite authors are Calvino, Fitzgerald, Hesse, Eston ellis, Hemingway and Kerouac.
I`m a great cook: if you want I can cook a lot of delicious traditional italian food. I love also ethnic recipes: japanese food, chinese food and thai food.
I moved to NYC in september 2th and now I`m living in Williasburg, Brooklyn: It`s a place with a good vibe, a lot of young people, fancy places and It`s far enough from manhattan traffic and noise.
I`m here because I always dream to spend a span of time in this amazing city and I want to improve my english because a lots of europen work`s applications need TOEFL test. I hope to get it with a good grade.
Obviously I hope to have great time here!
Bye Bye!!!!!!!!!
Hi Martina,
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Italy. I imagine that Bologna and "Sun Beach" are so beautiful. It's wonderful that you love reading. I love reading as well, and I really like the authors that you mentioned, although I now read mostly contemporary authors.
It seems like a lot of people in this class love to cook! I think we should have a potluck sometime this semester and try all of the delicious food that everyone knows how to cook.
Tara
Hi Tara have you ever read David Foster Wallace? I tried to read "infinitive jest" but sincerily after 100 pages I stopped. It was so difficult? Although I read this summer " westward the course of the empire takes it away" and i liked it. However wallace is not a simple author.
ReplyDeleteHi Martina,
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't read David Foster Wallace, but I've been thinking of reading The Pale King. I have heard from many people (even native speakers) that he is a very difficult author to read. I really like Jonathan Franzen. "Freedom" is one of the best books I've read this year. Have you read any of his books?
Hi Tara,
ReplyDeleteI have never read this author, however thanks for the suggest. I like your choice for the Book Club, especially "To Kill a mockingbird". I love this kind of sett: America in their early 30's, Civil Rights, racial and the segregated in the United States. At first glace remind me one book, that I read when I was younger "Fried Green Tomato at the Whistle Stop Cafe" by Fannie Flagg.
